ASSOCIATE UPDATE

Briony Rowley, CMPA Associate Committee Secretary

On Thursday 8 September the Associate Committee gathered at Komatsu in Campbellfield to hold their second meeting for 2005.

The meeting was chaired by David Batson, Vice Chairperson, on behalf of Andrew Lambing who was unable to attend.

All committee positions were up for re-election. Bob Jones, acting on behalf of Andrew Lambing, passed on his wish to step down as the Associate’s Chairperson.

On behalf of all Associate Members, and the CMPA as a whole, I would like to express our sincere appreciation towards Andrew Lambing for his constant support and dedication towards the position of Associate Committee Chairperson. Andrew Lambing has recently stepped down from the position of Chairperson which he has filled since the Association’s inception in 2000. His contributions to the CMPA are greatly appreciated.

David Batson was elected as the new Chairperson with Andrew Lambing moving to the position of Immediate Past Chairperson.

Frank Santoro accepted the position of Vice Chairperson previously held by David Batson.

Briony Rowley will continue in the position of Secretary.

David Batson thanked all present for their contributions noting that he looks forward to taking on the role of Chairperson.

Ron Kerr, Honorary CEO, attended the meeting to express his appreciation on behalf of the CMPA towards the Associate Members. The results achieved by the CMPA would not be possible without the support of the Associate Members.

David Batson encouraged any comments regarding the 2005 AGM & Dinner. Attendees were in general agreement that the evening was quite a success, receiving an excellent turn out for an entertaining and well organised event. Thank you to the AGM committee including Darren Rawson, Mark Thompson, and Bobbie Symons of Symons Sand Supplies for their assistance. It was decided the 2006 event will be held in the Melbourne region.

Other discussions included the benefits of the soon to be released Hazards in Mobile Plant Operations OHS Document, the Associates & General Information Reference Manual which is currently being compiled, the recently produced Procedure Document for Associate Marketing which outlines all avenues of marketing, and the benefits of articles in the CMPA News.

The next CMPA Associate Committee Meeting has been scheduled for 10 March 2006 with further details forthcoming.

A Melbourne based AGM Committee is to be established to assist in the organisation of the 2006 event with any volunteers asked to contact the CMPA.
