Meeting the Challenge of increasing competition and dynamic financial, social, technological and environmental change.

The Advanced Diploma of Extractive Industry Management (EIM) is a training program offered by Box Hill Institute which is specifically designed for operational managers within the extractive industry.

It has been structured to assist in the development of high level capabilities of existing top site management.

The program provides an industry guided pathway for prospective future site managers and senior operations personnel. It enhances the capability profile of an organisation.

The individual customised program brings together a combination of people development, technology, and infrastructure capacity building.

It enables sustainable best practice for a quarry site when operating effectively in an integrated coherent structure.

The program is delivered over nine sessions of three day blocks. In response to industry demand rolling enrollments were introduced in 2013 to provide flexibility for participants who can enroll in the program throughout the year.

The rolling program allows for greater flexibility for businesses as the course can be completed over an extended period.

The Advanced Diploma targets participant’s site specific case studies and strategic scenarios pertinent to each business involved.

The core principles of this program focus on performance management and organisational competitiveness presented within three business focused themes – “Strategic, Operational and Relationship Management”

The final session provides the platform for the delivery by individuals, pairs or teams, of their extractive industry management research project major presentation.

ASSESSMENT TASKS

At the completion of each learning workshop, participants are required to complete a comprehensive set of Individual Research Topics, mapped to the workshop content and the ‘Critical Aspects’ of each competency studied.

APPROVED WORKPLACE PROJECTS

Challenge-based Action Learning Major Project/s are designed in conjunction with Quarry Managers, senior management and acknowledged industry-based Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) as applicable.

The scoping brief for each major project is initially subjected to an industry bench marked feasibility study/business case evaluation methodology, to determine its commercial relevance and viability.

The project’s scope is mapped to both company specific strategic and operational objectives, and in its potential for success as a deliverable, to assist in achieving sustainable change and in enhancing the competitiveness of the business as a whole.

INDIVIDUAL MENTORING AND TUTORIAL SUPPORT

Support through one-on-one mentoring and tutorials will be provided by the facilitation team to each participant within the Advanced Diploma program if required.
