CME Celebrates 25 years of Innovation

By on May 13, 2013

MATT BRICK, Marketing Manager for Crushing & Mining Equipment reviews 25 years of innovation.

FROM small beginnings in Perth, Western Australia in 1988, Crushing & Mining Equipment (CME) has grown into an international organisation focused on providing materials processing expertise, wear products, engineering services including proprietary soft ware for liner wear rate modelling and production flow enhancement, and a comprehensive range of capital equipment to the resource industries.

Initially starting with a single staff member, CME’s core business was the supply of its renowned LinerSafe® manganese crusher liner range into Western Australian quarries and mines. Now part of the H-E Parts International group of companies, CME has further extended its capabilities which includes a service division offering off -site repairs, on-site field service, manufacturing and comprehensive engineering capabilities.

The company now employs in excess of 110 team members that service Australia, Africa and the Middle-East with agents in Indonesia and the Philippines.

Always at the forefront of industry advancements, CME prides itself on constantly striving to fulfil its corporate motto of ‘Innovation not Duplication®’.

Since the inception of the company, founder and current Chairman David Davenport has played a pivotal role in this philosophy by endorsing the concept, ground up design and manufacturing of CME’s Auspactor® Vertical Shaft Impact (VSI) crusher, CME 1100HD jaw crusher and range of heavy-duty motorbases utilising ROSTA technology, such as the recently released MBVL range.

Coinciding with this has been a dedicated focus on product enhancements utilising CME’s in-house engineering resources and proprietary modelling soft ware to provide end users with industry leading wear performance that repeatedly exceeds OEM standards. Further validating this company wide innovative culture is the 16 patents currently held and the various industry awards that CME has won, the latest being the 2012 IFAP Safety Innovation of the year award for CME’s LockLift ® product.

Gordon Fogwill, General Manager – Sales & Marketing stated that “It was through consistent product innovation and a superior service offering that CME has had continued growth.”

Furthermore Fogwill commented that “CME’s innovation could only be sustained due to world-class supplier relationships and a dedicated team that consistently delivered work of the highest calibre, many of whom that have been with the company for fifteen plus years.”

In 2012 in response to a perceived market gap in experienced materials processing service offerings, CME ventured into providing full on-site field service teams at both its Perth and Brisbane facilities, to cover the west and east coast of Australia, whilst also continuing to maintain their off -site repairs (OSR), fabrication and manufacturing divisions.

This has allowed CME to provide many customers with a full product life cycle and service solution from; products and parts supply, to engineered application design, manufacturing, assembly and installation, training, on-site and off -site repair, workshop rebuilds and decommissioning.
