The State Government’s Extractive and Mining Industry Advisory Board met on May 31, with Ron Kerr representing the CMPA.

The CMPA may seek compensation from the State Government on behalf of members, or even businesses that support members.

CMPA members likely to be adversely affected by future access to resources are asked to contact the CMPA Secretariat.

Mr Kerr is to inform the EMIAB of CMPA members who may be disadvantaged be a loss of income resulting from the implementation of the Box Ironbark Forests and Woodlands Investigation’s recommendations.

Guidelines for the rehabilitation of Agricultural Lands

A guideline document has been prepared for the rehabilitation of agricultural land by the Victorian Minerals and Energy Council and Victorian Farmers Federation.

Final resolution of the document depends only on the use of the word “productive” when referring to final use of a site.

The VMEC, VFF and DNRE have approved the document.

Accident Reviews Non Disclosure Provisions

The issue of limitations in sharing accident information was raised. In the present system, people are unable to discuss accidents for fear of litigation. It was proposed by the VMEC that a clause similar to that of s139 of the Health Services Act be introduced into relevant Acts.

Exploration Action Agenda

The EMIAB is recommended to the Minister that the State Government support the Federal Government’s initiative in regards to exploration.

The Federal Government’s Exploration Action Agenda has been instigated to identify and remove impediments to growth, to find where opportunities lie, and take advantage of them
