Explosive Licence Renewal

By on July 15, 2004

I have been approached by the CMPA to assist in the renewal of the Explosive Licence, which is legislated and comes into force in July 2005.

I was pleased to accept the position of lecturer for the CMPA courses, as advised in the newsletter.

Holding a “Permit to use Explosives” for 30 years, and servicing the quarry industry for 20 years as an explosives supplier with ICI Orica, it is an enjoyment to be involved with the courses.

I was involved in discussions with the CMPA and DPI regarding the examination by the inspectorate, which were invigorating to say the least.

The update of the Dangerous Goods (Explosives) Regulations 2000 together with the Australian Standards 2187, set the parameters of working safely in the use of explosives for our industry, and are much more user friendly for operators to follow than previous regulations.

I hope to meet with members of the CMPA during the proposed courses, and to assist them in updating their Explosive Licences.

The CMPA and the DPI Inspectorate have worked hard to bring this training and examination together, enabling members to gain issue of the 2005 licences.
