Lockout System Cuts Delays, Gives Added Security

Management of lockout tags and associated systems can be frustrating for employers and staff, reports PAUL TAYLOR of Super Signs.

LOCKOUT procedures provide workers in potentially hazardous environments with protection from accidents caused by inadvertent or unauthorized operation of machinery and equipment, or access to danger areas.

According to Paul Taylor of Super Signs, “Management of lockout tags and associated systems can be frustrating for both employers and staff . Workers often report difficulty in identification and location of tag owners on shift changes or where authorised access by others is required.

From a management viewpoint, production losses from delays caused by trying to locate owners of locks or staff waiting for delivery of lock and tag kits can compound over a period and become a significant cost to the business”.

Taylor said their company has released its Lockout system that enables twenty four hour response to orders for lockout kits that include the operator’s photograph and phone number on all locks, tags and kit bags.

“Having complete contact details on all components mean lock owners can be found quickly. The integrated photo ID tag speeds the process. Kits can be ordered on the internet at supersigns.com.au and delivered the next day. We also have an iPhone application where users can simply call up the App, enter their image and details. The kit is delivered the next day”.

Super Signs can supply the lockout kits either as a full kit comprising locks, retractor clip, heavy duty tags, stainless steel hasp and a rugged belt bag, or tags and bags supplied separately.
