By on August 13, 2008

Understanding the time it takes for a Work Authority to be approved is an important business tool. SARAH ANDREW, CMPA Project Manager reports.

WORK Authority application and variation time frames have continued to increase keeping with the trend of the year to date.

This is very concerning, however should be considered in light of the fact that there was an application that progressed from first presentation to DPI through to endorsement in under one month.

Comparing the figures to earlier this year, particular areas of concern are new Work Authority applications that are not yet endorsed and Work Authority variations that have been approved in the last six months (133 and 254 days more than March 2008 respectively).

The table below provides details on the applications approval process sorted by approval stage, being:

  • Not yet endorsed: Work Authorities that have been presented to the DPI, but are not endorsed. It may be pending further information from the applicant, or advice from the DPI or other referral authority.
  • Endorsed, not approved: Work Authorities that have been endorsed by the DPI, however have not yet attained their planning permit and therefore approval to operate.
  • Approved: Work Authorities that have been approved in the last 6 months and are ready to commence operations.

To remind new readers, this report is available from the DPI’s website. If you are presently working on an application, you can check its status on a fortnightly basis.
