Duplication of Incident Notification for Work Authority sites

An issue paper was submitted to the September EMIAB Meeting seeking agreement that all “specified incidents” on Work Authority sites which at this time should be notified to both Work Cover and the DNRE, be reported only to the DNRE. Duplication in this area is unacceptable. The CMPA is pressing for the “one stop shop” approach.

ECC Box-Ironbark Forests & Woodlands Investigation Report

Concern remains that the report did not address sterilisation of stone reserves from future generations, with specific examples including dimension sandstone from Harcourt / Castlemaine area now within a National Park. Issues raised include:

  1. The nominated National Parks were not assessed for stone reserves;
  2. Sterilisation of new extractive industry operations on freehold land abutting National Parks;
  3. The accuracy of data supplied in regards to ‘Quarry Production’;
  4. The ECC attitude regarding ‘the need for continued rationalisation of small extraction operations to reduce the level of disturbance…’;
  5. The resections that will be placed upon existing operators within National Parks, potentially sterilising further future resources.
