CMPA News (Issue 100)
Membership Renewals
All Members have received their renewals for 2018/19. We have had a fantastic response to date, for those who haven’t responded as yet it would be greatly appreciated if the application form can
be completed and sent back via email, fax or post. We do require the form to be completed for our records. Once the paperwork has been received a tax invoice will be issued.
Thank you to the CMPA members who have already renewed for the 2018/19 financial year.
Wall Planner
As we approach the final quarter of 2018, the Secretariat is now preparing the 2019 CMPA Wall Planner. This will be the eighth year it has been printed and distributed.
An email was sent to all Members requesting advertising for the planner. We have had a fantastic response, but there are still a few spots available to be taken up.
Please email your ads to the Secretariat at enquiries@cmpavic.asn.au ASAP.
It will be folded and inserted in the October / November issue of Sand & Stone but unfolded copies can be ordered and printed as well.
Management Committee Meeting
The Management Committee Meeting (MCM) was held at the tennis club in Kilmore on Wednesday 25th July 2018 and was attended by Garry Cranny (Chairperson), Basil Natoli (Deputy Chairperson, John Pititto (Treasurer), Jason Comben, Tej Panesar (Stand in Associate Deputy Chairperson) and Drew Phillips.
Prior to the meeting a light lunch was held with the Associates Committee. The MCM commenced at 12:45pm. The major items covered were the end of financial year report including the external audit for which no issues were found: John Pititto and Gavin Moreira were congratulated for their work.
The Policy and Special Issue fund was discussed. A decision was made to increase the funding by $50K to allow for further work on the development of Work Plan templates such as has been conducted for blast management.
The following plans are being considered for development:
- Environmental Management Plan possibly incorporating Pest Animals and Plants Management Plan –
- This is frequently a planning permit requirement.
- This plan alone will give confidence to the wider community.
- Fire Management Plan –
- This is a common existing Work Authority condition.
- Water Management Plan –
- To limit and contain the expenditure in this area, understanding this would be high level due to the considerable number of site-specific matters.
- This should consider at minimum ground water, surface water and water table.
- This should be triggered if there are issues, but not required in all situations.
Associate Committee Meeting
On 25th July 2018 the CMPA Associate Committee held its third meeting for the year at the Kilmore Tennis Club. Tej Panesar (TSP Group) opened the meeting, on behalf of Associate Chairperson Jason Rudge (William Adams).
The 2018-19 Associate Committee comprises:
An update was provided on the upcoming Annual Dinner held on Saturday 25th August 2018 at The Australian Events Centre, Essendon Fields. The biggest discussion point was the attendance by The Hon. Tim Pallas MP to the dinner and the trade display. We also looked forward to the 2019 Annual Dinner to be held on Saturday 14th September 2019 at the Vibe Hotel in Marysville.
The 100th Issue of Sand & Stone was discussed and so too was the importance of Associate member contributions in the form of editorials, advertorials and staff profiles. Associates to provide articles that look at new technologies, innovations or products or services that reduce costs and improve efficiencies for the quarries. This will not only help keep the content interesting for all readers but publicly advertise your business.
An integral part of being a member of an association is to be able to communicate to other members what you are all about and what you can offer to help grow each other’s businesses. Successful businesses can only benefit the industry in the long run.
The CMPA online presence will look to grow in the coming months with ad space on the website to be updated. Social media site LinkedIn is a pivotal tool to increase brand awareness for Associate businesses. The website NEWS section is being updated weekly by the Secretariat and includes past meetings, safety updates and Associate or Voting Member information. The new CMPA YouTube channel will also be updated to include videos on our members and suppliers.
Future marketing of the CMPA in the form of short messages and slogans was also discussed to assist people in knowing what the CMPA do and stand for.
