By on July 3, 2003

On the 1 April 2004 CMPA Associate Committee Chairperson, Andrew Lambing will face new challenges as the new Victorian State Manager of Komatsu Australia. Formerly the sales manager, in his new role Lambing will be responsible for the functioning and development of the sales and product support for the entire state.

Prior to Komatsu, Lambing owned a financial consultancy business marketing investment, insurance and finance products. He started as a sales representative with Komatsu on the 22 June 1992 to take on new challenges.

In 1995 Lambing became the branch and sales manager for Wodonga. His major task was to implement and develop the new branch which encompassed the Riverina and Northern Victorian areas. The Wodonga branch now supports a large client base and is a successful sales and support facility.

Lambing became Victorian sales manager in 1997. One of the major tasks endeavoured by Lambing which proved fruitful was segmenting the Victorian market into sectors and restructuring the business to meet the demands of the customer.

The customers’ requirement is a crucial factor in a sales environment. “At Komatsu we aim to develop practices to ensure that we supply the best product and service to the market” states Lambing.

During his six years as sales manager, Lambing developed tasks and procedures that have been implemented in Victoria and also nationally. For example, an automatic database processing system which was introduced 1998 is now being implemented in all other Komatsu regions.

As the new Victorian state manager Lambing states that his main task will be improving the overall branch performance and continue being leaders in sales, service and parts in this region.

Lambing stated that “Safety is crucial to everyone’s wellbeing and accordingly is number one on the Komatsu agenda.  We endeavour to provide continuous improvement in safety for employees and clients alike.”

“Our field service personnel will be participating in the CMPA course at Box Hill TAFE – this is a nationally endorsed course and will help to ensure they are aware of required safety measures when they visit our client’s workplace.”

Lambing believes that the efforts of the CMPA to foster and promote safety to both small and large businesses are a positive step forward for the industry as a whole.   He sees that the Associate member’s involvement is a vital factor in the growth of the industry and the Association.

As Associate Chairperson Mr. Lambing intends to build upon the CMPA membership base and promote unanimity and cooperation with processing members, and amongst associates.  Mr Lambing and other associate members are currently in the process of developing a Capital, Selection, Acquisition and Commissioning Reference Manual.
