AGM PULLS NUMBERS AND PLAUDITS

The 2002 CMPA AGM was held at William Adam’s Laverton facility in late July with more than 140 people attending to hear guest speakers, CMPA annual reports and enjoy a buffet style dinner.

NEM Communication’s, Tim Connellen, ably acted as MC for the evening hosting special guests including, CMPA patron Professor Ross Williams, Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Commerce, University of Melbourne; Dr Richard Aldous, executive director, minerals & energy, DNRE; Ian McLeod, Inspector of Mines & Quarries, NRE.

During the evening CMPA chairman, Ron Kerr, presented the annual activity statement, reflecting particularly on the efforts of all committee members involved and the contribution of all members to the strength and vitality of the association.

The annual activity statement, which is mailed to all members along with annual renewal notices, covered issues including:

  • Rehabilitation bonds issue
  • Box Ironbark Forests Study;
  • Environmental emissions;
  • Education initiatives;
  • Annual membership drive;
  • Financial issues;
  • Policy and Special Issues committee, and
  • Business support initiatives.
