Celebrating 40 Years of Service to Australian Industry
Alloys International (Australasia) Pty Ltd is an Australian owned private company formed in 1982 to market a comprehensive range of quality welding alloys and equipment for the maintenance, repair welding and thermal spraying industries.
Over the last 40 years the market, the technology and the products have changed enormously. But the philosophy on which Alloys International was built, the business remains the same today; Integrity, honesty, hard work, technical knowledge and customer service.
However, no business can be successful without the help and support of a wide range of people: its employees, customers, suppliers and most importantly our families who stand by us.
Sincere appreciation also to our loyal and often long-standing customers and suppliers. Their support has allowed the business to grow and prosper over that whole 40 years to the position in which we find ourselves today!
There is no business that always finds things easy, and we are no exception, having had periods in our business life when it has been extremely tough. However, we continued to adapt and improve and I think most importantly we persevered and never gave up.
So the fact that after 40 years we are still here is an indication that we must have done something right along the way!
When we commenced business last century, our product range consisted of electrodes and flux-cored wires for joining and surfacing as used in a wide range of industries. Since then, we have expanded this range to include a broad spectrum of wires, spray powders and equipment for the thermal spraying industry and other specialist products such as tungsten carbide
and titanium alloys.
A wide range of stock is held in our warehouse to cater for our customers immediate requirements thus avoiding expensive down-time or delays in repairing vital machinery. Alloys International’s management is committed to Quality and as such were the first company in our industry to gain third party certification through Bureau Veritas to ISO9001.
Along with our sister company Avweld Australasia Pty Ltd we continue to expand our offering to industry.
Avweld is a company which specialises in refurbishment and life extension by utilising a range of high technology, robotic surfacing and cladding processes. These processes are used for reinstatement of worn components back to original OEM specifications whilst at the same time significantly
increasing the life of those parts often by as much as 5-10 times that of an OEM part.
Apart from the obvious benefits of cost savings, savings in downtime and improvements in productivity the process of repairing rather than replacing (technological recycling) saves important natural resources which are becoming scarcer and more expensive. These benefits overall far outweigh the cost of replacement parts from the OEM.
The other major advantage which is becoming more obvious all the time is the immediate availability of the repaired parts which is a huge advantage in the current environment when the supply of OEM spare parts from overseas is taking longer and longer. The extended time-line of overseas sourcing has been increasingly exacerbated by Covid issues plus stretched and fractured logistics problems.
The robotic cladding technologies used by Avweld to apply these coatings and claddings to extend the life and performance on critical components include but are not limited to Laser Cladding using powdered and wire consumables, Plasma Transferred Arc Cladding (PTA), Pulsed Mig Cladding, Automatic Tig Cladding, Open Arc Cladding, High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) Spraying, DC Plasma Spraying of ceramic coatings, Twin Wire Arc Spray Coatings (TWAS).
Alloys International and Avweld Australasia have been members of the CMPA for the last six years. We welcome the opportunity to discuss any of these processes, methodologies, materials and solutions with existing and prospective clients at any time.
