Chadwick Geotechnics delivers a stormwater solution
Constructing new leachate and stormwater management infrastructure on the NSW North Coast has required careful planning and adaptation to local environmental conditions.
Partnering with Tonkin + Taylor, Chadwick Geotechnics is delivering a perimeter leachate and stormwater system – using staged dewatering and reinforced geotextiles – along with a stability buttress for Cells 3 and 4 at Kempsey Shire Council’s Waste Management Centre.

More than 600mm of rain in one week of May alone, on top of an April cyclone, has tested every phase of the works.
As the project nears completion, this new infrastructure is designed to provide Kempsey Waste Management Centre with reliable leachate management and effective stormwater control, helping protect the landfill cells and surrounding environment for years to come. It will also support the centre’s ongoing compliance and environmental performance.
“At Chadwick Geotechnics, we greatly value our longstanding partnership with the CMPA. This collaboration plays a vital role in strengthening industry capability, fostering technical excellence, and ensuring consistent quality across material testing and construction practices,” said David Glover, General Manager, Chadwick Geotechnics.

“Our alliance with the CMPA allows Chadwick Geotechnics to remain deeply connected to the needs of our clients and the broader construction materials industry. The synergies between our technical expertise and CMPA’s advocacy create real opportunities to enhance quality, safety, and sustainability across the sector — ultimately delivering greater confidence for the projects and communities we help build.”
