CHAIRPERSON’S COMMENT – EDUCATION (Issue 6)

By on July 2, 2002

Over the last 5 months since the last newsletter, we have been extremely busy addressing the issue of present and future needs of Quarry Manager education – what is required, how long this should take and who provides this service. This has involved attending Quarry Manager’s Advisory Board meetings, ITAB meetings and talking at the series of seminars introducing ‘Managing Health and Safety in Quarries’ organised by the DNRE.

Following on from this and requests from members, I will present to you the proposed ‘Levels for Quarry Managers/Responsible Persons’ table as presented to the Quarry Manager’s Advisory Board. This document was developed in conjunction with Box Hill Institute of TAFE.

Note: The time for achieving each certificate is on a part time basis and may vary according to the participant’s competency.
