Membership Renewals

All Members have received their renewals for 2021/22. We have had a fantastic response to date, for those who have not responded as, yet it would be greatly appreciated if the application form can be completed and sent back via email, fax, or post.

We do require the form to be completed for our records. Once the paperwork has been received a tax invoice will be issued.

Thank you to the CMPA members who have already renewed for the 2021/22 financial year.

If you are having financial difficulties in this time of COVID-19 please let us know.

Wall Planner

As we approach the final quarter of 2021, the Secretariat is now preparing the 2022 CMPA Wall Planner. This will be the eleventh year it has been printed and distributed.

An email was sent to all Members requesting advertising for the planner. We have had a fantastic response, so much so all spots have now been taken up.

Please email the Secretariat your ads ASAP at enquiries@cmpavic.asn.au.

It will be folded and inserted in the October / November issue of Sand & Stone, but unfolded copies can be ordered and printed as well.

Management Committee Committee Meeting

The Management Committee meeting was held Wednesday 18 August 2021 via Microsoft teams. Attendees were Garry Cranny (Chairperson), Jason Rudge (Associate Chairperson), John Pititto (Treasurer), Drew Phillips, Jason Comben, Tim Bird, Andrew Burdett, Cameron Black, Craig Banthorpe and David McKelvie. Ant Bateup and Ashley Day were apologies.

The Committee meeting commenced with the presentation of the EOFY accounts which were accepted for presentation to Members at the Annual General Meeting on 27 August 2021 (Microsoft teams). The July accounts show a good start to the 2021/22 financial year with membership and advertising renewals ahead of schedule.

Due to COVID-19 the 2021 Annual Dinner was cancelled. The Wangaratta Gateway venue has been booked for 2022 with the deposit being carried over. The Secretariat will look to promote future workshops and general meeting events as mini social events to encourage attendance and networking.

A number of items were discussed in general business such as safety issues impacting the extractive industry; Anna Cronin’s (Commissioner for Better Regulation) and the Better Approvals for Regulators Review; approval for Ross Outen to be contracted as CMPA’s Business Development Manager (more on Ross in the next issue of Sand & Stone 119); CMPA’s Rehabilitation project.

As this was Garry Cranny’s last Management Committee Meeting as Chairperson, he took the opportunity to acknowledge the Secretariat for their efforts and appreciation for the level of communication to all Members.

Associates Committee Meeting

On 18th August 2021, the CMPA Associate Committee held its third meeting for the year via MS Teams. Associate Chairperson Jason Rudge (William Adams) opened the meeting.

The 2021-22 Associate Committee comprises:

There were a few changes to the committee, Mark Thompson (Oli Vibrators) stepped into the Deputy Chairperson role and three new additions in Michael Ewing (Amsted Global Solutions), Alfred Samuel (Anitech) and Riccardo Wong (CDE Global Australia).

An update was provided on the Annual Dinner which unfortunately has been cancelled for a second year. The 2022 event will be held on Saturday 27th August 2022 at Quality Hotel – Wangaratta Gateway. The date has been secured with deposits for the venue and entertainment rolled over.

Future issues of Sand & Stone were discussed and so too was the importance of Associate and Workforce member contributions in the form of editorials, advertorials and staff profiles. There will be a focus on staff and employees of member businesses going forward with Mental Health a key topic.

Associates to provide articles that look at new technologies, innovations or products or services that reduce costs and improve efficiencies for the quarries. This will not only help keep the content interesting for all readers but publicly advertise your business. An integral part of being a member of an association is to be able to communicate to other members what you are all about and what you can offer to help grow each other’s businesses. Successful businesses can only benefit the industry in the long run.

The CMPA online presence continues to grow both on the website and our social media site LinkedIn, both are pivotal tools to increase brand awareness for Associate businesses especially in these times of COVID-19 where a lot more people are working from home. We are currently looking at all our communications with members, potential members and the local communities in particular digital marketing to see where we can improve.

Future marketing of the CMPA include the development of a video to follow on from our poster and brochure with the focus again on “Quarries Build Communities”.
