From little things, big things grow – FUCHS Lubricants and Tutt Bryant Limited

By on July 13, 2022

Armed with an idea and a mere £500, Leo Edward Tutt joined forces with Edward Bryant in 1943 and started an empire that is now one of Australia’s largest construction equipment sales, manufacturing, and distribution companies – Tutt Bryant Limited.

No stranger to entrepreneurial flair, the FUCHS Lubricants brand story begins in a similar way, one young man, a bicycle, an oil can, and an idea which has grown into the largest independent lubricants manufacturer in the world. With such similar histories, it is no mere coincidence that
these two brands now work together to service the $360B construction industry in Australia.

With an extensive fleet of construction equipment from the world’s best manufacturers, ranging from excavators right up to 1600t capacity cranes across 27 sites nationally, Tutt Bryant offers both sales and hire solutions to suit any sized construction business. But the relationship with their
customers doesn’t end there. With conveniently located services centres, Tutt Bryant also offers fixed price servicing and maintenance packages and have partnered with FUCHS as their exclusive lubricants supplier to ensure their customers remain happy for many years to come.

In Victoria, this all begins with a grease kit that is gifted with each new sale that includes a grease gun and a cartridge of FUCHS grease RENOLIT POLIPLEX 2. “High quality grease is vital for civil equipment” explains Daniel Walker, Service Manager at Tutt Bryant. “By supplying RENOLIT POLIPLEX 2 with each new piece of equipment we sell, we are ensuring that the customer is introduced to the right product to protect and maintain their asset from the very beginning.”

“We have confidence in the FUCHS brand and have seen firsthand through our Service Centres that RENOLIT POLIPLEX 2 is the best product for the job”. Providing extended service intervals, RENOLIT POLIPLEX 2 is an off-white tacky grease that stays in place during heavy rain and equipment cleaning. It also prevents dirt from getting in on hot and dusty days, keeping the equipment in top condition and minimising downtime.

But grease isn’t the only FUCHS product that is keeping Tutt Bryant’s civil equipment in good working order. Key to the reliability of almost all equipment used across the construction industry is hydraulics and the Tutt Bryant Service Department relies on FUCHS RENOLIN B 46 HVI PLUS. “Longevity of the equipment that we both sell and hire is key to our brand proposition” Daniel confirms, “and our sampling intervals confirm we are using the best product available.”

Achieving servicing intervals of up to 5,000hrs, FUCHS RENOLIN B 46 HVI PLUS is an anti-wear style hydraulic oil that provides greater energy efficiency as compared with a standard hydraulic oil. With a wide temperature range, RENOLIN B 46 HVI PLUS also provides consistent performance regardless of the operating conditions.

FUCHS Lubricants joined the CMPA in 2021 to strengthen its relationships with existing partners within the organisation as well as build new partnerships with like-minded members. Committed to supporting the local Earth Resources Industry, FUCHS manufactures more that 95% of its premium range of lubricants locally at our two plants in Sunshine, Vic and Beresfield, NSW. FUCHS is also committed to leading sustainable practices within the construction industry, going beyond their own manufacturing process. Since 2020, FUCHS has been CO2 neutral from “gate-to-gate” with an aim to have all their suppliers become CO2 neutral by 2025. In addition to this, FUCHS lubricants are expertly designed to reduce energy consumption and increase the service life of machinery, helping CMPA members improve their efficiency and achieve their own sustainability targets.

To add to these performance benefits, RENOLIN B 46 HVI PLUS is suitable for ISO 32, ISO 46 and ISO 68, consolidating workshop inventory and thanks to it easily identifiable blue colour, checking the fluid level is easy.

In addition to quality lubricants, Tutt Bryant is also looking for a supplier that has a sustainable ethos, making FUCHS the perfect partner. Since 2020, FUCHS has been CO2 neutral (“gate-to-gate”) with all its production subsidiaries, with a plan to offer CO2 neutral products (“cradle-to-gate”) by 2025 through a range of sustainability initiatives including the use of renewable energy across its manufacturing plants globally and a CO2 neutral supply chain.
