Success, Direction & Longevity

After ten successful years, we aim to keep our Members at the forefront of the industry reports TIM BIRD, the CMPA’s Chairperson.

THERE is no doubt that the last ten years of the CMPA have been very productive in lifting the standards in the manner in which our Members conduct their business activities, be it training, networking, occupational health and safety, industry regulator relationships or the way we have conveyed our input into legislative changes.

As the new financial year approaches, we are proud to report that the Association’s membership has continued to grow over the past 12 months.

To ensure better coverage and provide the best results possible for the industry, we encourage current Members to spread the word of the CMPA to their contacts within the industry and encourage those who are not yet Members to get on board. No one is too big or too small.

We rely on our membership to ensure the continuation of our goals and endeavours, and to ensure we continue to ably represent all industry participants, regardless of size or status.

Moving forward into the next ten years I see the role of the CMPA being of even more importance to our Members, with the current merging of the EID and MRSD Acts and the ongoing changes in legislation that directly and indirectly affect our businesses.

As an Association, we rely heavily on the input of our esteemed Members to bring forward issues and concerns that they may have, affecting their business or the industry as a whole.

We also require this input from our membership when producing submissions to Government and other legislative bodies, to provide direction and feeling on how the Members would expect the CMPA to respond to various issues and what actions to take. This, in addition to the direction that the Management Committee gives, is essential to the success of the CMPA.

Moving into the next ten years as an Association, we aim to keep our Members at the forefront of the industry with the leading training techniques and manuals, regulation input and guidance, and the continual correspondence of industry knowledge to our Members, ensuring they are equipped with the very latest advice in order to further their business prospects.

Your input to the Association is vital for its success, direction and longevity.

SERVING MEMBER’S NEEDS

To ensure the CMPA are able to fulfil Member’s expectations, the Secretariat has a set of objectives. These support and give guidance on the activities and direction to be undertaken on a daily basis.

Objectives are grouped into headings including:

  • Supporting Member’s needs
  • Representing Members
  • Developing supplier relationships
  • Security of resources
  • OHS and environment
  • Vocational training
  • Association’s sustainability

Each heading contains about five objectives that the Secretariat uses when assessing where to place its resources, ensuring the maximum return to Members.

For instance, one particular objective is the, “Development and presentation of initiatives which increase Members’ understanding of health, safety and environmental issues”.

Keynote activities relating to this objective include workshops covering lifting of wear parts, identifying confined spaces onsite, and working at quarry faces.

With your input we are able to ensure the objectives are representative and give all Members the best possible value.
