Technology Assistance available

A new initiative to assist small and medium business implement, identify and adopt new technology has been recently launched by the Federal Government.

Industry Tech Link is a free service is an initiative of AusIndustry and driven by the Government’s national ‘Backing Australia’s Ability’ program to assist industry become more competitive.

Launched by Federal minister, Ian McFarlane in late February, the service enables SME’s to call the Industry Techlink hotline number and get free access to highly skilled technology consultants who can:

  • methodically identify business or process impediments,
  • recommend technology options, and
  • provide quality, reliable referrals.

The service targets small to medium size enterprise owners looking for advice and guidance when upgrading or introducing new systems or equipment.

John Harris from the Industry Tech Link program said, “the technology consultants are there to help identify the latest technologies within their industry and allow them to weigh up their options before outlaying capital.”

The inquiry could be as simple as establishing internet connections or as complex as the orientation of polymer molecular chains in packaging.  According to Mr. Harris the technology consultants have extensive experience and access to national industry resources and are capable of responding quickly.

Mr Harris said that the Industry Techlink would welcome calls from CMPA members and others in the industry.  Those people with questions should call the free hotline number 1800 111 485.
