Mansfield Crushing started life as an earth-moving business in 1989 and grew to include several quarries and a pre-mix concrete facility. Mansfield Crushing made the decision to sell the pre-mix plant in the early 2000s and later sold the quarries to now focus on contract crushing and earth-moving.

During the past decade, Mansfield Crushing has rebuilt and developed its contract crushing and quarry management operations to support the major capital works projects underway or being planned. The company now processes in excess of two million tonnes per annum across multiple locations throughout Victoria.

It is not just the demand for quality road base materials that is fueling the growth of Mansfield’s work, the company has also been involved in supplying the crushed rock for the hardstands
and access roads for several wind farm projects, onsite crushing for sub divisions as well as the supply of high specification sealing aggregates for the build and redevelopment of various highway and airports throughout Australia.

Ant Bateup, General Manager of Mansfield Crushing, stated that continued steady growth is achievable, even in constrained economic times. Mansfield’s projects now support the operation of six mobile crushing and screening crews, as well as a number of quarry development, civil and project management operations. The company currently employees more than 55 staff members.

Mansfield Crushing provides a high level of back up support to ensure safe, well maintained and efficient plant and equipment to maximise machine availability and meet customers’ demand and specification. All Mansfield Crushing sites are backed by a strong internal team of trades people with well-equipped service vehicles and specialised tooling. All service technicians receive factory training provided by the manufacturer, which ensures they have the most up-to-date product knowledge and skills in order to keep Mansfield’s machines up to the highest possible standard.

Ant stated that Mansfield Crushing has been a member of the CMPA for many years and active on its management committee for the past three. “The CMPA is an important body as it can give a unified voice to the disparate parts of the industry,” he said. “By being willing to participate in the operation of the organisation, we can help guide the future development of the materials
processing and construction sector.”

The CMPA’s own journal, “Sand & Stone” features articles about successes achieved by member companies, as well as industry suppliers. Ant stated that it is a testament to the association that
the journal is celebrating its 100th issue this year. “We are proud to be a part of this edition,” he added. “For any magazine to reach such a milestone is an achievement, even more so for a specialised trade publication.”

Since its inception, the CMPA has been successful in representations to government and industry on a range of issues including rehabilitation, work safety, preferred suppliers and development of an industry reference manual.

and industry bodies such as the CMPA.
