New CMPA Administration Officer
ABBY EAGER, Administration Officer for the CMPA eyes a bright future within the industry.
Since starting at the CMPA in the middle of April I have grown my knowledge in the Extractive Industry and if I am honest an industry, I knew very little about. I have enjoyed learning about the development of the CMPA and its members so here is a little bit about me.
I am a local Broadford girl, brought up by my parents alongside my two brothers. I completed my schooling in 2016 and took a gap year to travel (which was a bit longer than a year in the end…), during that time I worked in a few hospitality jobs and completed my Agents Representative Course.
In 2018, I commenced work as a Salesperson for Kilmore Toyota where I stayed for the next 3 years. It was here where I really grew as a person and the role helped me advance many of the following skills.
• Communication skills and teamwork which are integral to hear the needs and wants of members to grow the industry.
• The Administration Officer role has a variety of tasks which I love, from accounting to events management. Having knowledge from my Toyota days in invoicing/accounts to planning yearly events has given me some background knowledge to support my new role.
• Keen to learn and willing to seek further education to
understand the job further.
The future of the industry, what do I want to learn about it?
• I would love to visit some quarry sites and understand myself what the members need from me and how my role can assist them to grow.
• After just completing the build on our house I can now see how much time and effort goes into a small-scale project so for many of the members who run large scale businesses who provide materials to these projects I know they need the support and the backing of an association to complete the highest standard of work.
The challenge of learning about the CMPA and how it makes an impact on the extractive industry and the community is exciting and I am keen to help this industry grow!
I am looking forward to meeting many of the members at the Annual Dinner in August in Wangaratta.
