Onetrak on track for continued growth
Australia’s resources sector is big business and requires large scale machinery and plant to operate effectively and efficiently. Australian success story, Onetrak, supplies and maintains a range of heavy equipment for the earthmoving and construction; quarrying and mining; material handling and forestry industries.
Onetrak has undergone rapid growth since its formation more than a decade ago thanks to high-quality, personalised service focused on the company’s customers. Beginning as a Hyundai construction equipment dealer in Tasmania, the company now employs more than 90 staff working from seven sales and service locations throughout Australia.
According to David Hazell, Managing Director and Founder of Onetrak, the outlook is good for continued growth. “We will be opening our first site in Queensland this year and a second facility in Victoria is scheduled to open in 2019.”
“Around the country there are a large number of significant capital works projects underway or being planned,” Hazell stated. “There certainly is a requirement for quality road base in aggregates which will naturally increase demand for Onetrak’s services.”
“We started off trying to be all things for different sized companies in multiple markets but have found our place in four key markets which we focus on going forward,” said Hazell.
The company is the Australian dealer for some of the leading brands from around the world, these include Dressta bulldozers, Hidromek construction equipment, Alicon rockbreakers, Tigercat forestry equipment, Rotobec attachments and Terex-Fuchs material handlers.
In 2017, Onetrak also became the national dealer for another successful home-grown company, Striker, which designs and builds crushing and screening equipment. Hazell continued to explain the activities put in place to support this new partnership. “Since signing the agreement we have invested in product support and technical training and ordered a significant key parts inventory. Onetrak brings nation-wide aftersales support to the Striker partnership with its seven workshop facilities and fleet of field service trucks. Stock units have arrived and are available for inspection.”
The types of machines available through Onetrak include excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, rock breakers, crushers and screens. “There is no other company, or at least very few, which can offer complete end-to-end service of quarry equipment,” Hazell said.
Onetrak’s service department is backed by nation-wide parts distribution and a team of dedicated parts interpreters to ensure parts availability, coverage and delivery to site. The service and
parts departments ensure minimum downtime for customers’ machines. To meet the rigorous demands of supporting industries that often operate in some of the remotest areas of the country, Onetrak has a fleet of 30 4WD field service vehicles that can repair and maintain machinery onsite.
All of Onetrak’s service technicians receive training at the manufacturer’s facility to ensure they have the most up-to-date product knowledge and skills in order to offer the best possible solutions to customers and keep their machines running at optimal performance. “However, changes in processes and technology mean we also have to have people with different skill sets that complement those of existing staff,” Hazell added. Onetrak has also invested in different business systems, including a scalable computer network, workshop service and sales management tools. The company has also signed a partnership with Salesforce to increase the level of support and service to its customers.
”Quarries today are large, sophisticated businesses in their own right and require a high level of service from their machinery suppliers,” said Hazell. “We have to manage the demands and more so, the expectations, of the quarrying and extractive industry in Australia.”
The CMPA is an important organisation in representing the quarrying industry and lobbying government on members’ behalf. Onetrak has been a member for nearly 10 years, is active in sponsoring CMPA events and functions and is thrilled to be a part of the 100th Issue of Sand & Stone. “Our products are an obvious match for the industry members of the CMPA,” said Hazell.
