Progressive Rehabilitation Award

The CMPA inaugural Progressive Rehabilitation Award sponsored by Resources Victoria (Victorian Government) will be awarded by the Minister for Energy and Resources, The Hon Lily D’Ambrosio MP at the CMPA Annual Dinner Saturday 30 August 2025 Centrepiece – Melbourne Park.

Invitation

Award nominations are invited for demonstrated delivery of effective progressive rehabilitation of a CMPA extractive industry site. There are two categories:

  • Small: <100,000 tonnes per annum
  • Large: >100,000 tonnes per annum

Submission

One submission per site is due by 5:00 pm Monday 21 July 2025 to
[email protected] . Your submission should include:

  • Explanation of your progressive rehabilitation against each of the criteria (max 1000 words)
  • Photographs and/or video
  • Maps explaining extracted and rehabilitated area

Criteria

Planning

  • Forward schedule of rehabilitation activities can be demonstrated
  • Operational activities are arranged to support efficiency in progressive rehabilitation (placement of topsoil stockpiles, access roads and extraction sequencing etc)

Delivery

  • Progressive rehabilitation can be demonstrated
  • Planting monitored and assessed for effectiveness
  • All areas where extraction is complete is included in progressive rehabilitation activities

Outcomes

  • Alignment with approved work plan can be demonstrated
  • Standard of rehabilitation outcomes has been assessed and improvements made
  • Commitment to next steps (e (e.g. contractors engaged, materials sourced can be demonstrated

Innovation

  • Highlight any innovations
    A panel will determine the awardees: Rebecca Carlton, Acting Chief Inspector ERR; John Mitas, Managing Director John Mitas Consulting and Chris Prowse, Managing Director CK Prowse & Associates.

Annual Dinner 2025 Update

Preparations for this years Annual Dinner are moving along and the Annual Dinner is fast approaching.

To celebrate CMPA’s 25th Anniversary we are putting together a history of the CMPA video and Timeline video of the industry as a whole.
An email has been sent out to members asking for their contributions of historical and current images, videos, stories and testimonials.
The CMPA would be honoured to receive as many contributions as possible, so that we can all experience the walk down memory lane.
