SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS

The inaugural Strzelecki Earth Resources Sustainability Awards are intended to encourage and recognise efforts by the resource industry to contribute to sustainable development.
The Awards are jointly administered by the Department of Primary Industries and the Banksia Environmental Foundation, and will recognise outstanding achievement in sustainable development in the Victorian earth resources industries.
Banksia are assisting the DPI in the design of the awards program, providing professional judging and assessment services and assisting applicants with advice or information during the application period. Banksia is a national not for profit organisation that promotes environmental excellence.
The awards are open to mining, petroleum and extractive industry operators in operations of all sizes and types.
Businesses or individuals entering the Awards will be recognised for excellence in the management of sustainable development related to their business, with two levels of awards offered, being three Gold Awards and a Discretionary Platinum Award.

- Gold Award for Community Engagement
- Gold Award for Management of the Natural Environment
The Platinum Award is a discretionary award that may be presented to a company, group or individual that addresses all aspects of sustainable development.
“Winning a category in the Awards is recognition that a company has applied innovative approaches that contribute to the continuing sustainable development of Victoria” – The Hon Theo Theophanous, Minister for Resources.
Winners of an award will be publicised in ongoing publicity by DPI promoting the benefits of sustainable development in the resources sector.
Entries opened 2nd December 2004, and close 5:00pm Monday 7th March.
