WorkSafe Victoria ERTS Update
GAVIN MOREIRA, Member Services Manager for the CMPA provides a brief report on the latest incidents as reported to WorkSafe Victoria.
The latest Earth Resources Tripartite Safety Forum was held via MS Teams back on 7th February 2024. The following information relating to incidents in quarries was presented.
Data takeaways:

Worker’s arm entangled at quarry site
Worksafe is reminding quarry operators about managing the risks associated with plant and access to plant danger areas.
An employee was injured while performing maintenance activities on a large operating rotary dryer. The employee was close to the main drive gear of the rotary dryer when their right arm became entangled. The employee’s arm was partially amputated. The main drive gear was approximately 230mm wide.

We are also looking to develop online training for Members employees and contractors on Guarding in the second half of 2024.
