Management Committee Meeting
The CMPA 2026-2 meeting was held on 20 May 2026 at Conundrum Holdings in Kilmore.
Attendees included Jason Comben (Chair), Drew Phillips (Deputy Chair), Tim Bird, Cameron Black, Andrew Burdett, Tej Panesar (Interim Associate Chair). Jon Pititto (Treasurer), Matt Skidmore and Garry Cranny joined via MS Teams. Apologies included Sarah Andrew, Craig Banthorpe, Ashley Day and David McKelvie,
John Pititto, Treasurer presented a summary of accounts and 2026/27 CMPA draft budget.
The Committee discussed the current fuel crisis and the high cost of diesel – how this was impacting industry.
Rehabilitation Bonds – panel of industry representatives to review the Bond Calculator recommended that the Victorian Government implement both short and long-term reforms to balance state financial exposure and efficiencies in the sector.
Dr Elizabeth Gibson will arrange further meetings with Chris Wheeler in relation to the MRSDA Act Reform.
There was robust discussion as to why quarries come under the same umbrella as the mining industry. Quarries follow the OHS Regulation 5.3 (Mines). Quarries currently adhere to Subdivision 1 404-406, Identification of hazards, assessment and control of risk and 408. However not all divisions in the regulation apply to quarries and the cost to implement this would result in a significant cost to the sector.
CMPA will develop a list of industry priorities and submit to all political parties before election in November 2026.
The CMPA Annual Dinner entertainment, Master of Ceremonies and Guest Speaker were confirmed for Saturday 3 October 2026.
Voting Member renewals are coming up at the end of this financial year; all Member and Potential Member correspondence has been updated and approved. In addition, a letter has been developed and approved – to Voting Members, reminding them of the benefits of using CMPA Preferred Suppliers – approved by Jason Comben, Chairperson, CMPA Management Committee.
Site visits were made to Voting Members in February; planning is underway for site visits in June 2026.
