Goolengook Forest Investigation
On 21 December 2006 the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council (VEAC) received advice from the Minister for Water, Environment & Climate Change of the withdrawal of the request to investigate the Goolengook Forest. The withdrawal was signed by the Minister on 15 December and is pursuant to section 15 (6)(b) of the VEAC Act 2001.
The Minister advised that as a result of the Government’s 2006 election policy, “A Labor Government will immediately protect significant stands of old growth forest in Victoria, including the Goolengook Block, in the National Parks and reserves system”.
