WALSH BALLARAT QUARRIES BUILDS NEW CRUSHING PLANT

By on January 25, 2009

RA YMOND WALSH from Walsh Ballarat Quarries reports on their family run business and the construction of their new crushing plant.

The Walsh family’s Quarry business prepares for the future with optimism. Aft er 28 years in operation the quarry site at Dunnstown is presently in the midst of a major upgrade of its crushing plant.

The old plant originally built from second hand materials, motors and conveyors by Leo Walsh (founder of the company) has held the company in good stead. However, the realization that the plant was very tired and that things don’t last forever, this old plant is being superseded by a new state of the art plant. The new crushing plant is hoped to be in operation by June 2009.

From the early pioneering days when Leo commenced operation at Dunnstown he was shortly joined by son-in-law Damian Dodd who today is Quarry Manager at Dunnstown.

Damian is excited and enthusiastic about the new plant. Raymond Walsh, Leo’s son is managing Director of both Dunnstown and Learmonth Quarries. He is pleased and proud of the opportunity to oversee the construction of the new crushing plant. He believes this development at Dunnstown breathes new life into the family business.

Raymond’s son Luke manages Learmonth quarry and at the age of 25 years is aware of the hard work and sacrifice of the early days. Luke fully appreciates the achievements of the family business and is the next generation working to continue the tradition.

This new plant will guarantee our future in the industry as we strive for excellence in supply, service and delivery of crushed rock products to our valued contractors and customers.

We are proud to be members of CMPA and congratulate the Association on their professional growth over the years. We wish to thank the CMPA for its support to all members.
