The 2024 CMPA Annual Dinner was held at the RACV Club, Melbourne. CMPA Member Services Manager, Gavin Moreira, reviews another fantastic night.
A spectacular night celebrating with members, families, employees within the extractive industry. What an event with room capacity SOLD OUT two weeks before the event. Over 330 attendees and guests ascending to the 17th floor of the RACV Club, Melbourne with a fantastic opportunity for our sponsors to network and catch up with friends.
The CMPA Annual General Meeting commenced at 5pm on the dancefloor of the 17th floor ballroom with the CMPA Chairperson Mr Jason Comben opening the meeting and addressed the assembly with highlights from the preceding twelve months.
Key benefits of being on the Management Committee are being exposed to issues impacting the industry and working towards solutions together.
Motions were passed for acceptance of all the reports including the Financial Report (presented by our Treasurer John Pititto) and there were six vacancies for Voting Members on the 2024/25 Management Committee for a three-year period.
All attendees and proxies were in favour of re-electing Jason Comben (Matthews Quarries) as Chairperson, John Pititto (Mead Partners) as Treasurer and Drew Phillips (Castella Quarries), Garry Cranny (Dandy Premix), David McKelvie (Safe Mix) and Cameron Black (BCA Consulting) as Committee Members.
Pre-dinner drinks and delicious canapes were served as guests started to trickle in and collect their lanyards and look at their seating arrangements. The Pre-function area included a roof top terrace overlooking the city and south towards Port Phillip Bay.
The room was soon abuzz with guests mingling and enjoying some networking whilst Jeremy Bennett tickled the ivories in the background.
Our special guest for the evening was once again The Honourable Lily D’Ambrosio MP, Minister for Climate Action, Energy & Resources and State Electricity Commission who spoke with Members in the pre-dinner area and throughout the dinner.
The doors opened to the spectacular Ball Room; which was filled with colour and views to the city. As guests found their way to their tables they discovered gifts from our platinum sponsors, each guest received an Impact Drill & Blast cap and pen, Ultra Dynamics pen and an Orica (Quarry Services) keyring. Each place setting also received a Tote Bag from TSP Group of Companies take their goodies home.

All key talking points for the night. Centrepieces were again a floral arrangement from our local Kilmore florist which attendees were able to take home.

The tone for the night was to socialise, network and enjoy the night with families, friends and fellow CMPA members. He made special mention of the five Voting Members who also sponsored the Annual Dinner.

Our entertainment this year was a combination of DJ Matthew Charles who was on hand providing background music.
The hour or power featured the band Midnight Mix made up of vocalists, DJ, MC, Jarrod on Sax and Sammy on Percussion providing a variation of musical numbers for guests to listen too later in the evening as well as bringing many guests to their feet and on to the dance floor.
The evening ended on a high note and many guests decided to keep the mood going and move on to the ‘Irish Times’ after doors closed at 11:00pm. Once again, a tremendous night was had by all.
