Management Committee Meeting

THE Management Committee on 21 May 2014 met with Kylie White (Executive Director, Earth resources regulator DSDBI) at the Royal Oak Hotel, Kilmore to discuss issues impacting on the construction material processors industry over a sandwich lunch. Robust discussion centred on the proposed risk based work plan form.

The Management Committee meeting then commenced. In attendance was Garry Cranny (Deputy Chair), John Pititto (Treasurer), Andrew Burdett, Ant Bateup, Basil Natoli and Tej Panesar. Apologies were from John Mawson (Chairperson), David Eldridge, Mark Barryclough (David Carrucan has resigned from the Committee due to having left Alex Fraser to start up his own consultancy) and Tim Bird. the budget for 2014/15 was approved and the business plan for 2014/15 was circulated for comment and subsequent approval out of session.

A strategic plan for CMPA for 2014-17 has also been developed and will be on the Agenda for the AGM on the 13 September 2014.

The auditors, Watco Partners in Seymour, have been appointed for 2013/14 and will conduct their audit of CMPA accounts on 11 July 2014.

There was some discussion over the succession planning for the Management Committee with the Chairperson and 6 Management Committee members finishing their terms and the positions becoming vacant. Requests for nomination will go out to all voting members on 8 August 2014.

Associate Committee Meeting

On 15 May 2014 the CMPA Associate Committee held its latest meeting at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne, the venue for the Annual Dinner this year. It was a great opportunity for Associates to have a brief tour of the hotel and the dinner room. Confirmations were made regarding entertainment, accommodation and extra activities to make the event an enjoyable weekend.

Discussions were had around the draft ‘Purpose of the Associate Committee
document’
, which has now been updated and circulated to all Associate Members.

The growth and development of Sand & Stone was discussed and so too was the importance of associate member contributions in the form of editorial, advertorials and staff profiles to not only help keep the content interesting for all readers but to publicly advertise associates businesses.

An integral part of being a member of an association is to be able to communicate to other members what you are all about and what you can offer to help grow each other’s businesses. Successful businesses can only benefit the industry in the long run.

The CMPA website re-development was discussed and meetings were held with IT companies to provide presentations and quotes to update the website. Improvements are to include a more user friendly website and easier to navigate.

Search functions for Preferred Suppliers and articles in Sand & Stone. Updated technology to allow the website to be viewed on iPad and mobile phones and the ability to share articles via email.

Other networking opportunities for 2014 are currently being investigated including regional trade shows in conjunction with workshops and meetings and other ways to be able to communicate more regularly with voting members was keenly discussed.

2014/15 Preferred Suppliers Information

The CMPA Preferred Suppliers & General Information reference Manual 2014/15 is currently being produced with the intention of delivering the manual to members by the end of August 2014.

For all associates, the membership renewal form includes your company industry details, this is the information that is in the Preferred Suppliers & General Information reference Manual.

Please ensure all content is correct for publishing. Renewal of advertising in the manual must be paid for in full before advertisements will be included.

There is also an option of having colour logos and three photo’s placed on your page to brighten up your page and to make your business stand out from the crowd. The total cost for the extras is $20.00. Please advise on the renewal form if you would like to take up this option or email us your preference.

Membership Renewals

All Members would have received their renewals for 2014/15. It would be greatly appreciated if the application form can be completed and sent back via email, fax or mail. We do require the form to be completed for our records. Once the paperwork has been received a tax invoice will be issued.

Associates intending to advertise in the August/September issue are required to complete the form as soon as possible as the deadline for advertising in this issue is28 August 2014. thank you to the CMPA members who have already renewed for the2014/15 financial year.
