CHIRS COX, from Delta Recycling Victoria reflects on the celebration of 10 years in operation.

Delta Group began trading as Delta Demolition in 1974 and has established itself as an industry leader. The group has now expanded to incorporate civil works, excavation, civil and landscaping, asbestos removal, commercial bin hire, heavy equipment hire and an innovative recycling and waste management program, including a world leading joint venture with Boral in concrete recycling.

The Boral/Delta joint venture has seven sites servicing the Melbourne metropolitan, Sydney and Newcastle markets, accepting concrete, brick, asphalt and excavation rock for processing, crushing and blending to produce a wide range of products to VicRoads specifications.

The Delta Site at Sunshine with a purpose built fixed crushing plant, including a 54 x 42 primary jaw, services the heavy industrial areas of the west and the major CBD projects. The other six sites are located at Boral’s Metropolitan Quarries where all recycling materials are crushed and blended by mobile recycling crushing plant on a campaign basis.

Strict guidelines are followed at both the acceptance of raw material and testing of finished product to produce Class 1, 2, 3, 4 envirocrete pavement materials to VicRoads specifications and standards. All sites have NATA approved laboratories to monitor all production.

Delta has been involved in iconic projects like the demolition of the three stands at the MCG, the Olympic, Members and Ponsford Stands, achieving recycling audits of 85 per cent of total material to recycled products, as well as servicing new housing subdivisions construction around Melbourne.

The development of new products continues to evolve with blending of recycled products and lower grade quarry products, achieving good results and extending quarry resource life.

Examples of such innovation include the recent Deer Park Bypass in Melbourne which used large volumes of a crushed brick and quarry scalps blend for the lower sub base.

The Delta Recycling division nationally processes and crushes an average of 2 million tonnes per annum of construction and demolition waste which was once sent to landfill.

The Delta Contract Mobile Crushing Division has been developed over the past few years with a wide range of primary, secondary and tertiary crushers and screens with capacity up to 400 tonnes per hour.

The Delta Recycling and Crushing Divisions continue to grow and invest in new equipment as the Australian economy recovers from the world recession and the company looks forward to an even brighter future.

Delta Group would like to take this opportunity to thank the CMPA for their ongoing support to the industry.
