Shot Firers get a Blast

By on January 18, 2010

The CMPA and Box Hill TAFE conducted two training and assessment days in November last year, see below for comments from ADAM GORDON one of the trainers.

I think a major advantage of anyone attending a CMPA refresher course is the diversity of shot firers who will be attending and their methods that they use. So far the attendees have ranged from senior experienced shot firers to younger workers still building on their shot firing skills.

The fact that everyone’s experiences have been different in some way helps to put all elements of the regulations into perspective. Usually at least one person attending will have had an experience which can help the others to understand the context behind the regulations.

The general vibe of the courses is relaxed, good natured and friendly with great feedback so far. Attendees have the benefit of peer support for the exam which really helps. The exam is not a walk in the park for anyone regardless of their shot firing experience.

Anyone who currently needs to renew his or her licence would benefit from this course with, the appropriate content professionally prepared by the CMPA. The venues have been excellent and another huge advantage is having a Work safe inspector administer the exam on the same day before any learning’s have faded. If anyone is worried about renewing their shot firing licence, this is definitely the way to go!
