BILL ASKEW, owner of Brucknell Lime reports on the development of the business.

Brucknell Lime has been a family owned and operated business for over 30 years situated on the Curdies River in South West Victoria. It was established by father and son, Lindsay and Bill Askew in 1985.

The original screen and crusher were built by Lindsay and Bill in their farm workshop. The business is now managed by the third generation, Billy Askew. They now have larger equipment and although it is well used, it is regularly maintained and quite reliable. They use an Extec double box, double deck screen, Striker Impacter, two Hitachi articulated loaders and a Hyundai 32 Tonne excavator. They also have two dozers, a Komatsu 375A and a Komatsu D65 Dozer.

They supply clay based Agricultural Lime to a large scope of Victoria and to a wide variety of farmers. They have been members of the CMPA since 2015 and are long-term members of the Victorian Lime Producers Association (V.L.P.A).

Bill and Billy take pride in forming long term relationships with their customers and value their continued support.

They understand that Farmers and Transport operators are very busy people, so they endeavour to load them at any time or day that is suitable. As the quarry is located at the rear of the family’s working Dairy farm, loading a truck on short notice is not often an issue.

Over the years the Askew’s have had a small but loyal crew to help them in the quarry that consists of Peter Finch, Steve Poustie and Russell Lowndes. All of whom have been responsible for maintaining and operating the plant.

Agricultural lime is our business and it can help your farm. Agricultural lime, or AG lime, is commonly used to correct the high level of acidity in soil. It is also the main source of calcium and magnesium for plants. Using agricultural lime allows your plants to grow healthy and strong, keeping up your crop yield.

Along with agricultural lime, we also sell limestone rubble. This is used as bases for sheds and houses, along with farm tracks and laneways. Check out our services below to find out what we can do for you:
