Milbrae and Mawsons join

By on October 8, 2021

The Woods and Mawson families along with Mawsons’ joint venture partners, Adbri, are very pleased to advise their valued employees, customers, contractors and suppliers that they have signed contracts under which Mawsons will purchase Milbrae’s concrete, quarry, mobile crushing and mining services businesses. The sale is effective from October 1st, 2021.

Combining the Milbrae and Mawson businesses will create an even more capable, well equipped and experienced team with renowned expertise in the fields of construction materials supply, mobile crushing and mining services. The region serviced by this team will cover much of NSW and Victoria and stretch into SA. The product and service offerings from both Milbrae and Mawsons will remain and be backed by in-house experience and technical knowhow that is unsurpassed in regional Australia.

The deal will see Milbrae staff retaining their current terms of employment carried on into Mawsons. Existing Milbrae sites (including quarries, concrete and pre cast plants, mines, workshops and administration offices) will continue, operating as an integrated division of Mawsons. There will be very significant synergies achieved by combining the two businesses especially across transport, mobile crushing and screening and concrete services.

The Milbrae brand will stay; building on the great reputation for excellent service and quality products that Milbrae has built up since the Woods family started the business in 1969. Chris and Brett Woods will continue their involvement to help ensure a smooth transfer of specialist knowledge and relationships. Third generation Nathan and Liam Woods continue the family’s involvement through management roles in the consolidated business structure.

Milbrae operational and administrative contact details will remain the same. Milbrae customers and suppliers will notice very few changes as the Milbrae and Mawsons businesses gradually merge their procedures. Existing Milbrae quotes, product range and supply agreements will be fulfilled and, as appropriate, extended.

Chris Woods, Milbrae Managing Director, said that while he was “A bit sad to be stepping back” but is “Delighted our family’s business and all the excellent people in it, would be able to keep developing with Mawsons as the new owners.”

Mawsons Managing Director, John Mawson said, “It is a great opportunity and privilege for our company to be able to combine with Milbrae and continue the growth of these strong regional Australian businesses.”
