Unsafe stack sites: VicRoads also wanted to be informed if tipping of construction material was occurring at VicRoads stack sites under unsafe conditions such as: under/ close to power lines; dangerous access and egress; unstable ground etc.

South Western Victoria CMPA Member visits
In keeping with CMPA’s ongoing Member visits program Dr Elizabeth Gibson went to South Western Victoria to conduct CMPA Members and potential Member visits from 21-23 March 2018. These visits are conducted by CMPA to hear first-hand accounts of issues impacting the extractive industry.
The first visit was with David Eldridge and Lavinia Knight of DE Quarry Solutions where discussions centred on late payment to quarries for Government projects; supply of construction material and training such as Crushing and Screening being run in the district.
Next was Coragulac Quarries with Phil Boyd where supply was again discussed with little Class 1, 2, 3 aggregate available in the region.
Steve Mulraney was met at Gillear Lime & Sand Stone Quarries in Allansford who was interested in a crushing and screening course to be run in the region.
Conversation with John Weichert of Mibus Bros again concerned shortage of supply due to a flood recovery program in South Australia, wind farms and roads programs.
The final visit was to Troy Beaston of Eureka Concrete. Five potential Members were also visited. Thank you to all for the support for CMPA and work activities undertaken in addition to the friendliness shown. It was much appreciated.
Note that there were a number of changes to the site visits at the last minute due to road closures caused by the South West Victoria fires. The Members that were missed will be visited later on this year.
