TAHLIA JOVIC, National Sales & Marketing Administration Assisitant for CJD Equipment reports on the multiple Loader sale to Burdett Sands.

BURDETT Sands Pty Ltd is a Victorian company that supply quarry construction materials as well as transporting a variety of sand types and raw materials throughout the state. Recently and after much research and a long process of weighing up total machine costs, Andrew Burdett has invested in five new Volvo Wheel Loaders to use for his business.

The newly purchased equipment includes an L120F Loader which is used in Burdetts’ concrete batching facilities. There are three L150G’s which are utilized in the production of soil blends and brick sand products and an L180G loader which works in the sales end of the operation.

When in the market for new machinery Andrew sought the advice of CJD Equipment. This was due to having a pre-existing relationship with the company after having previously purchased Volvo Construction Equipment for his business. High levels of productivity and fuel savings resulting from the use of previous machines were certainly contributing factors in the buying decision with the new products.

“We had an L180E Volvo machine that had done so many more hours over and above other machinery with lower fuel consumption and less maintenance costs, the history of that machine definitely helped with the purchasing decision of the new ones.” says Andrew. He went on to say that “after much ‘like for like’ machine testing, comparisons and demonstrations we chose to again purchase Volvo from CJD Equipment.”

Fuel economy was important to us as fuel consumption is such a big cost in our business. We are 10% better off as a result of choosing Volvo.” says Andrew.

“CJD Equipment and their staff are technically proficient and service wise they have been great. We have recently been utilizing the CareTrack Telematics System and the system is fantastic at providing us with fortnightly reports, a matrix of how many hours the machine works, with percentages, for example, how gear selection is utilized. It is all recorded through a GPS and gives us a way to control what happens in the machine without personally having to sit in it all day.”

In the four years we’ve had our machines, our parts and service needs have been met by our 8,000 hour service contract with CJD Equipment which includes a complete service and maintenance package which is very good and was all built into the fixed cost.”

Andrew’s final statement when asked about the comfort and productivity levels of his newly purchased equipment, “Volvo Equipment just seems to be one step ahead.”
